Cloud Gehshan Design created an extensive wayfinding signage system and master plan for a prominent diplomatic area and affluent residential district in Saudi Arabia. A key part of this project was the creation of wayfinding maps affixed to the signs, which I was responsible for designing.
To develop these maps, I conducted extensive research on the physical layout of the space by studying the client-provided land-use master plan, satellite imagery and Google Maps. I ensured all content was accurately presented in Arabic by collaborating closely with my design team and the client, using an organized spreadsheet to verify translations. Additionally, I researched the official languages of each country with an embassy, as every embassy had a dedicated sign and placement on the map. I supplemented missing information from incomplete sources, remained mindful of cultural sensitivities, and ensured the maps aligned with the established design language to maintain consistency across the entire signage system.
